Kumail Nanjiani, Mandy Moore To Star In Insidious Spin-Off Thread

The Insidious universe is getting a spin-off with Thread, a new film in the universe that will star Kumail Nanjiani and Mandy Moore. Deadline reports that the two have closed deals to star in Thread: An Insidious Tale from Screen Gems, Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight will direct the film from a script that he wrote.

The film will tell the story of a husband and wife (Nanjiani and Moore) who enlist the help of a spell to travel back in time, such that they can prevent the death of their young daughter, with severe consequences.

This is the first spin-off for the franchise, which will see the fifth film Insidious: The Red Door release on July 7th. The series has been a lucrative one with $542.9 million grossed worldwide thus far against a combined production budget of just 26.5 million (plus marketing, as always).
