Margot Robbie Confirms Joker Won’t Appear in Birds of Prey

Anyone out there who might have been hoping for at least a Joker cameo in Birds of Prey has some bad news, courtesy of Margot Robbie. Robbie spoke with Variety for a new feature article on her and confirmed that Leto won’t appear in the film, even in a cameo capacity.

The new film sees Robbie’s Harley Quinn having split with Joker and teaming up with Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) teaming in order to protect Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) when she comes across a diamond belonging to Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). It’s set to release on February 7th.

Robbie also talked about the new Joker film, praising Joaquin Phoenix as doing “a phenomenal job.” She added that (to no surprise), they won’t be going the gritty route of that film, saying, “I feel like the Joker film was much more grounded. Ours is different. It’s heightened.”
