A producer of the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody is set to make a film about the late, controversial King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. Deadline reports that Graham King has securite the rights for a film on Jackson’s life from the late singer’s estate, including access to all of Jackson’s music. John Logan (Hugo, The Aviator, Gladiator) will write the script.

While immediate concerns might fall on how sanitized the film will be considering allegations of sexual abuse against Jackson, the site reports that the film is not intended to be a whitewashed look at the singer. The Aviator, which King also produced, is being used by the site as a comparison. That film took a complex look at Hughes including his mental health issues. The Jackson biopic will not ignore the “complexity” of Jackson’s life, which are very publicly known, and will look at the entirety of his life up to his passing in June 2009.

Logan and King will work on the script before they set it up at a studio. There’s a strong appetite for music biopics, with Bohemian Rhapsody earning $903.7 million worldwide and garneing six Oscar nominations while this year’s Rocketman was also successful at $195.2 million off a $40 million budget plus marketing costs.
