Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, She-Hulk Series All Announced For Disney+ at D23

Marvel is bringing out some big guns for Disney+, announcing series for Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk at D23. 411 is in attendance at the convention and during the Disney+ panel, it was announced that series based on all three characters are on the way. It was also announced at the presentation that Ms. Marvel will debut in her Disney+ show before moving onto the films.

This is big news for most anyone who’s a fan of the Marvel Comics universe, and not surprising. Ms. Marvel — aka Kamala Khan — is one of the company’s best-selling and reviewed comics. Created by Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, G. Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona and Jamie McKelvie, Kamala is the first Muslim-American superhero in Marvel history. In the comics, she is an Inhuman who gained her powers after being exposed to the Terrigen mists. She was a huge fan of superheroes before she became one herself and took on the name Ms. Marvel in honor of her favorite hero, Carol Danvers, who had just taken the name Captain Marvel.

Of course, Carol Danvers is a major character in the MCU, so the introduction of Kamala is likely to have some association there. Bisha K. Ali will write the pilot and also serve as showrunner.

Moon Knight, meanwhile, is Marc Spector, a longtime fan favorite in the “streel level” section of superheroes also occupied by the likes of Daredevil and Luke Cage. Spector has Disassociative Identity Disorder and has four personalities. He gains his powers – superhuman strength, endurance, and agility — from the Egyptian god Khonshu. They wane and wax with the moon, being strongest when the moon is full. She-Hulk is Jennifer Walters, the lawyer cousin of Bruce Banner, who is open about her superhuman persona and until recent years hasn’t suffered from the same rage issues as her cousin. She gained her Hulk powers after receiving an emergency blood transfusion from Bruce.

More details on these series are expected to be revealed soon. No timetables has been yet been revealed for when the shows may begin production or air.
