Netflix Says 40 Million Accounts Have Seen Stranger Things Season 3 So Far

Stranger Things’ third season is a major hit for Netflix, with over 40 million viewers in just four days. Netflix announced on Monday that since its release on July fourth, the show’s third run has been watched by 40.7 million household accounts. That makes a new record for Netflix for any film or series in its first four days; the announcement also notes that 18.2 million accounts have already finished the season.
.@Stranger_Things 3 is breaking Netflix records!
40.7 million household accounts have been watching the show since its July 4 global launch — more than any other film or series in its first four days. And 18.2 million have already finished the entire season.

An important caveat to note here: Netflix does not release viewership data for all of its shows, and their numbers are entirely internal and can’t be verified by an independent entity. According to TV Line, a source at Netflix confirmed that watching the show registers if someone watched at least 70% of an episode.
The show has already been confirmed four a fourth season, which may be its last.
