New Scream Film Reportedly in Development

Ghostface isn’t dead yet from the looks of it, as a new Scream film is reportedly in the works. Bloody Disqusting reports that Spyglass Media is developing a new film, described as “based on the franchise” that Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson created.

The site notes that it is not clear if the new film will be a remake or based in the same continuity of the previous four films. Craven directed all four Scream films, with Williamson writing all but the third. As of now, Williamson is not on board to write the new film.

Spyglass Media Group is also at work remaking Hellraiser, which was also a Dimension Films property. Spyglass was re-launched in March by Gary Barber, Lantern Entertainment co-presidents Andy Mitchell and Milos Brajovic and strategic investors Eagle Pictures and Cineworld Group as a content provider, with Lantern Entertainment being the company that picked up Dimension Films’ assets after the company went into bankruptcy due to the Harvey Weinstein debacle.
