Paramount Pictures has pushed back the latest films in its Transformers and Star Trek franchises. Variety reports that the studio has moved back Transformers: Rise of the Beasts from June 24th, 2022 to June 6th, 2023.

As a result, the next (as-yet-untitled) Star Trek film is being pushed from that June 6th, 2023 date to December 22nd, 2023. Of note, that currently puts the Star Trek film opening the same weekend as Star Wars: Rogue Squadron unless one of the studios ends up moving their films before then. While Rogue Squadron reportedly had its 2022 production start delayed, The Hollywood Reporter noted that Disney is keeping the December 2023 release date intact for now.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts stars Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback and is directed by Steven Caple Jr. It is a prequel to the main franchise that is set in 1994.

The next Star Trek film is set to be directed by Matt Shakman from a script being re-written by Josh Friedman and Cameron Squires. The original script was written by Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
