Dave Meltzer On Why Worlds Collide Has an Earlier Start Time Than Dynamite

AAA x WWE Worlds Collide will be starting Wednesday an hour before AEW Dynamite, and Dave Meltzer shared his thoughts as to why. WWE announced on Friday that the WWE and AAA crossover show, which taped on Saturday, will be airing on Wednesday starting at 7 PM ET on YouTube. That is, of course, an hour before AEW Dynamite goes on the air.

Meltzer discussed the matter on Wrestling Observer Radio noting that the notion is to “get the jump” on AEW Dynamite.

“Ultimately, the goal is that they don’t get renewed, and the way to not get renewed is to hurt their TV ratings,” Meltzer noted (per Wrestling Inc). “I mean, will it hurt? Miniscule. But that’s why they’re doing it, in the idea of: ‘We’ll get the one hour jump on them.'” 

Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite was announced on Monday as being a tribute to the late PAC. WWE is reported to have made the decision to air Worlds Collide on Wednesday as far back as early August.
