Wonder Woman 1984 is still seven months away, but Patty Jenkins says that the story is already set for a third film and Amazonian spin-off movie. Jenkins, who directed the first and second films, spoke with reporters at CCXP in Brazil (per EW) and said that they already know where Diana’s story — and Themyscira’s — are going.

“We actually already know the whole story to [Wonder Woman 3] and then some because there is an Amazon [spin-off] movie, as well, and so we already have it all mapped out,” Jenkins said. “It’s just a matter of will we change our minds and when.”

Jenkins talked about their plans the same day that the trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 released. Jenkins added that their wish is to have them both greenlit and filmed in their own time, so as not to rush things.

“I think what we don’t want to do is do it back to back,” Jenkins said. “It’s been great doing these two movies back to back, but I think it’s important to give it a little rest in between — and I like doing other things in between. And Gal has other things to do. I never want to make decisions too far in advance. We have to see if we both feel like making the movie we think we want to make when the moment comes.”

Wonder Woman 1984 sees Diana living on her own in the titular year, when she goes up against The Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) and Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal). Returning to her life is Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), somehow restored to the land of the living after his death in the first film.
