The rumors are untrue: Wonder Woman 1984 will not be going straight to streaming. Director Patty Jenkins posted to Twitter to confirm that despite some rumors that have been spreading around, there are no discussions about putting the service directly to streaming.

Jenkins posted:

“Correct. Direct to streaming is not even being discussed. We are still 100% behind the theatrical experience for #WW84 and supporting our beloved theater business.”

The film is currently set to release on December 25th after having been delayed a couple of times due to the pandemic. It stars Gal Gadot as Diana, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta and is described as follows:

Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big-screen adventure finds her facing two all-new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah. With director Patty Jenkins back at the helm and Gal Gadot returning in the title role, Wonder Woman 1984 is Warner Bros. Pictures’ follow up to the DC Super Hero’s first outing, 2017’s record-breaking Wonder Woman.
