WandaVision was the end of Paul Bettany’s most recent contract with Marvel, according to the actor. Bettany has portayed Vision (and voiced Jarvis, Vision’s AI predecessor) in several Marvel films starting with 2008’s Iron Man, and headlined his own series alongside Elizabeth Olsen in WandaVision which premiered earlier this year. While that series hinted at a potential future for the character, Bettany told The Playlist that for now, he doesn’t have a contractual agreement for more films or shows.

“I don’t have a contract,” Bettany noted. “I don’t know [when Vision may return]. I don’t know that at all. And all that I do know is, as far as this sort of traunch of press goes for an Emmy push, which is for a limited series. So it doesn’t look like that happening again. I mean, I guess it would be difficult to introduce White Vision and not deal with him in some way, but we have not discussed that.”

In WandaVision, Vision — who was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War — was reconstructed by the government and left devoid of personality (and color) in order to combat the version of him created by Wanda for her fantasy. The two Visions did battle for a bit but Wanda’s Vision managed to restore the memories of “White Vision,” after which that one flew off on his own. Wanda’s Vision evaporated into nothing once she let her fantasy fade away.

WandaVision is available on Disney+ worldwide. While as Bettany noted the show’s Emmy push is as a limited series, but Marvel and Disney+ have not confirmed one way or the other whether there will be a second installment. After all, Big Little Lies was in the Limited Series category but it got a second season, so it’s not impossible that WandaVision (or some follow-up under another name) would too.
