Prey Director Returning To Predator Franchise With Badlands

Prey director Dan Trachtenberg is set to direct a new film in the Predator franchise titled Badlands. THR reports that Trachtenberg, who was nominated for an Emmy for Prey, will direct the new film in the franchise. Few plot details are not known, though the film will not be a sequel to the 1700s-set Prey and will instead be set in the future with a female lead.

Trachtenberg wrote the story with Patrick Aison, who wrote the screenplay for the film. The film is set for a July production start.

The report also notes that 20th Century Studios is planning a number of projects in the franchise after the success of Prey, which was a hefty hit for Hulu where it released. There’s no word as of yet on where Badlands will release.
