Resident Evil Reboot Confirmed to Be in the Works
It’s official…Constantin Films is working on a reboot of the Resident Evil franchise from 47 Meters Down’s Johannes Roberts. Roberts spoke with Screen Rant promoting 47 Meters Down: Uncaged and confirmed that a reboot of the film franchise based on the video games is in development.
“We are in active development of that at the moment,” Roberts said. “I pitched them a take, and they really loved it. So, we are just gearing up on that as we speak, really. I’m in the office all the time there.”
The last entry of the franchise as Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which released in January of 2017. Roberts said that the new film will go back to the horror elements of the video game series.
“So, yeah, it’s great,” he said. “It’s gonna be super scary. It’s super, super scary. And it’s just getting back to the roots of the game. I think, at the moment, I’m not allowed to say much more than that. But it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”
The film is expected to begin production later this year.
