Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Rick Moranis

Rick Moranis is returning to screens at last, as he’s set to return for the next Honey, I Shrunk The Kids film. Deadline reports that Moranis has closed a deal to return for the franchise he helped anchor, which is being made for a theatrical release as opposed to early reports of a Disney+ airing.

Moranis has been almost entirely off of screens since the late 1990s, as he took a hiatus to raise his kids. He has done some voice work since, including voicing his Spaceballs character Dark Helmet on The Goldbergs in 2018, but with the exception of a TV special has not appeared on screen since the direct-to-video Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves in 1997.

The new sequel in the franchise, titled Shrunk, will be directed by Joe Johnston who helmed the first film. Josh Gad will play the son of Moranis’ Wayne Szalinski, who aspires to be the great scientist that his dad is — and of course, follows in his dad’s footsteps by accidentally shrinking the kids.
