Ridley Scott In Talks To Direct Disney’s The Merlin Saga

Variety reports that Ridley Scott is in talks to direct The Merlin Saga for Disney, based on the T.A. Barron books about Merlin’s lost years. Scott’s company Scott Free will produce with Gil Winter when a deal closes. Philippa Boyens will write the script.

The book series was an origin story for the famous wizard, who would become the mentor of King Arthur. The Merlin Saga is one of two films that Disney is working on about the character, including a live-action remake of The Sword in the Stone. Scott also reportedly met with Disney executives about that film. Tendo Nagenda and Foster Driver will oversee for the studio.
