Robert Pattinson Reportedly in Talks to Star in The Batman
Robert Pattinson is reportedly take Batman’s cowl from Ben Affleck, starring in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Variety reports that Pattinson is in negotiations to play the role and that while the deal is not yet done, it is expected to close shortly. Deadline claims that Nicholas Hoult is still in the mix for the role, but that Pattinson has the edge in the studio’s picks.
Pre-production on the film will kick off this summer. Reeves is set to direct from a script he wrote, which he has described as a “point of view-driven, noir Batman tale” that is set during Bruce Wayne’s younger years.
Pattinson is, of course, best known for his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise. However, he has moved on to doing more arthouse films following much-hated franchise including 2012’s Cosmopolis for David Cronenberg, 2017’s The Lost City of Z and High Life, which released in April. He also played Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter films. He will also star in Christopher Nolan’s next film, which opens on July 17th, 2020.
The Batman is expected to shoot in late 2019 or early 2020.
