Rosamund Pike to Star in Amazon’s Wheel of Time Series

Rosamund Pike is set to star in Amazon’s Wheel of Time series adaptation. CS.net reports that the Gone Girl star will play Moiraine, one of the leading roles. Moiraine is a member of the Aes Sedai, a shadowy and influential organization of women who can channel magic. She embarks embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, believing that one of them might be the reincarnation of an incredibly powerful individual, whom prophecies say will either save humanity or destroy it.

The first two episodes of the series will be directed by Uta Briesewitz (Westworld, This Is Us, Jessica Jones). Rafe Judkins (Agents of SHIELD, Hemlock Grove) is developing the series and will be the4 showunner.

The novel series was written by Robert Jordan and spans twenty-three years worth of novels, ending with 2013’s A Memory of Light.
