Sara Gilbert discussed ABC’s decision to cancel Roseanne after Roseanne Barr’s racist tweet on Monday’s episode of The Talk. Gilbert, who was an executive producer on the sitcom revival and co-starred as Darlene, discussed the decision and said that while she was proud of the show, she agrees with the network’s call.

“I would like to say this has been a very difficult week,” Gilbert said (per TV Line). “A lot of people have been hurt by this. I will say I’m proud of the show we made. [Roseanne] has always been about diversity, love and inclusion, and it’s sad to see it end in this way. I’m sad for the people who lost their jobs in the process. However, I do stand behind the decision that ABC made.”

ABC announced the cancellation of the sitcom, its biggest hit of the season, after Barr called African-American Valerie Jarrett, a former advisor to Barack Obama, as a combination of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes.
