South Park Creators Trying to Buy Casa Bonita Restaurant
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are trying to buy Casa Bonita, the Colorado restaurant that was featured on the classic 2003 South Park episode. Summit Family Restaurants, which owns Casa Bonita, filed for bankruptcy in Arizona on April 6th.
“We want to buy Casa Bonita and treat it right. I feel like it was neglected even before the pandemic,” Parker told The Hollywood Reporter.
“We are absolutely trying to buy it,” Parker added. “We are going to do everything we can. We want to make it right and make it amazing.”
Parker added that if they are able to buy the restaurant, they, along with other unidentified Colorado-based restauranteurs, have a lot of plans for the spot.
“We started talking about the changes we’re going to make — mostly with the food,” Parker said. “We’re going to make really awesome food. I was already thinking about how I was going to make Black Bart’s Cave a little bigger.”
“It’s just sitting there. It sucks,” Parker added. “For a moment when it was like, ‘Casa Bonita is going to close down,’ we said, ‘We’re going to go buy it.’ And I felt like it was the crowning achievement of my life.”
Casa Bonita opened in 1974 and features an arcade, cave, and waterfall with cliff divers. The restaurant has been closed since 2020.
