The Teaser Trailer For Star Wars: Episode IX Is Here

Disney and Lucasfilm have just released the teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. The film is the last in the Star Wars sequel trilogy that began with The Force Awakens in 2015. It will be released in theaters on December 20.

Interestingly enough, the teaser ends with the familiar laugh of Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious, signifying that he will play a critical role in the film. 411’s Jeremy Thomas breaks down in detail what this means, how it’s possible, and a bunch of stuff about Force Ghosts and Sidious Clones here.

The film was directed by JJ Abrams from a script he wrote with Chris Terrio. It stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Naomie Ackle, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels and Billy Dee Williams.
