A new rumor claims that Tony Todd will be returning for Jordan Peele’s Candyman film. Bloody Disgusting reports that several sources who are trustworthy have told them that Todd will be reprising his role as the titular villain in the new film, which will star Yahya Abdul-Mateen and Teyonah Parris.

The site makes it clear that this is not 100% confirmed yet, and notes that MGM has not officially announced the news. Todd suggested he may be appearing back in May, saying, “I was in South Africa two months ago, shooting a film called Bulletproof 2, and I was a little concerned because of all of this chatter [surrounding the new film]. And out of the blue, I got a phone call from Jordan Peele. and we’re still waiting for the contract, but the way he explained it to me was that it’s gonna be ‘applause worthy moments.’ That’s his words.”

The film returns to the neighborhood where the legend began: the now-gentrified section of Chicago where the Cabrini-Green housing projects once stood. Filming has begun with a June 12th, 2020 release date set.
