The Hollywood Reporter has some major news on the upcoming animated series based on Robert Kirkman’s superhero comic series, Invincible.

The new voice cast includes The Walking Dead alum Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons (Counterpart), Mark Hamill of Star Wars fame, Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beets (Deadpool 2), Walton Goggins (The Shield), Mae Whitman (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Chris Diamantopoulos, Melise, Kevin Michael Richardson, Grey Griffin, and Max Burkholder.

The report confirmed that Yeun is voicing Mark/Invincible and J.K. Simmons is voicing his father, Omni-Man/Nolan Grayson. If I were to guess, I’d say Hamill is likely Cecil Stedman, a United States government operative and contact for Mark. And Sandra Oh is probably Deborah Grayson is voiced by Sandra Oh. Deborah is Mark’s mother and Nolan’s wife. However, these are just spitball guesses.

The planned series will feature eight hourlong episodes. Invincible centers on Mark Grayson, a normal teenager except for the fact that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet. Shortly after his 17th birthday, Mark begins to develop powers of his own. The series is described as a suspenseful, action-filled, emotion-packed show that builds upon poignant and heartwarming moments of love, friendship, and humanity.

Kirkman’s own Skybound Entertainment is producing the series. Simon Racioppa is attached as showrunner. Kirkman, Racioppa, David Alpert, and Catherine Winder are attached to executive produce the project. Justin and Chris Copeland are serving as supervising directors.

Additionally, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are still attached to write, direct and produce a live-action Invincible film which is still reportedly in play at Universal Pictures.
