Warner Bros. At Work on Mortal Kombat Sequel, Moon Knight Scripter Writing

Warner Bros. is moving ahead with a sequel Mortal Kombat with the writer of Moon Knight at work on the script. Deadline reports that Jeremy Slater is set to write the follow-up to the to 2021 video game adaptation, which arrived in theaters and on HBO Max last April.
While the film didn’t do huge numbers at the box office, grossing $83.6 million against a $50 million box office, it is believed to have been a success thanks to its HBO Max business. The film reportedly had the biggest opening weekend streaming numbers on the service, and Warner Bros. said in June that it exceeded their expectations.
There’s no word on plot or cast, though the previous film teased the arrival of Johnny Cage and the start of the actual tournament after the first film set things up.
