The Weinstein Company Voids Non-Disclosure Agreements In Bankruptcy Filing
We reported last month that The Weinstein Company filed for bankruptcy. The studio has been the subject of multiple lawsuits ever since the news of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct broke in October. Now TMZ reports that TWC has officially announced the bankruptcy filing. They said they are entering a “stalking horse” agreement with Lantern Capital Partners in Dallas. Lantern has reportedly agreed to purchase the studio if the court approves. The offer is said to be between $300-$320 million.
TWC has also voided all of their non-disclosure agreements with employees. They said they hope that the agreements won’t silence anyone else after they were used “as a secret weapon to silence (Weinstein’s) accusers.”
They added: “No one should be afraid to speak out or coerced to stay quiet. The Company thanks the courageous individuals who have already come forward.”
Weinstein has been the subject of multiple criminal investigations in the US, but no charges have been filed yet. He’s currently in Arizona getting treatment for sex addiction.
