Young Rock Gets Premiere Date, Will Anchor NBC’s Tuesday Comedy Block

NBC’s Young Rock series officially has its premiere date, and it will serve as the anchor for the network’s Tuesday comedy block. NBC has announced (per Deadline that the series about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s youth will premiere on February 16th at 8 PM ET/PT, kicking off the network’s primetime programming for the evening.

The series is produced by Johnson alongside Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Jennifer Carreras, and former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz. He will also appear in each episode. The show stars Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant, and Uli Latukefu as Johnson in various stages of his life (10, 15, and 18 – 20, respectively). Stacey Leilua is set to play Johnson’s mother Ata, while Joseph Lee Anderson will play Rocky Johnson and Ana Tuisila plays Lia Maivia, Ata’s mother and Dwayne’s grandmother.

The synopsis for the show reads:

Young Rock focuses on different chapters of Dwayne Johnson’s life. From growing up in a strong and resilient family, to being surrounded by the wild characters of his professional wrestling family, to playing football at the University of Miami, the show will explore the crazy rollercoaster that has shaped Dwayne into the man he is today and the larger-than-life characters he’s met along the way.
