411’s WWE Smackdown Report 05.07.15

May 7, 2015 | Posted by Eric Palmer

*Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton and Jerry Lawler are on commentary tonight.

*Match times are not exact.

*We get a quick recap of Ambrose defeating Seth Rollins on Raw to get added to the Payback main event.

*The show opens up with Phillips and Saxton hyping up the contract signing as Jerry Lawler is in the ring to interview the newly crowned King of the Ring: Bad News Barrett.  Barrett says there is only one King in WWE and it certainly isn’t Jerry Lawler. He runs him down and says he earned his King moniker, while Lawler has not. He says in order for Lawler to be king, he has to say “All Hail King Barrett.” He said the trailer parks of Memphis don’t have any castles, so the only throne Lawler is qualified to sit on is a toilet. He tries to get Lawler to say those words, but Lawler says he’s not gonna say it. Barrett bullies him some more but Lawler is a stubborn old man. Barrett removes his robe and prepares to Bullhammer Lawler as Ziggler comes out with a mic. He congratulates Barrett and calls him a renaissance fair reject. We got a ref in the ring which leads to…

*King Barrett vs Dolph Ziggler

We start with a lock up and Barrett is aggressive early and takes control. Snap suplex by Barrett gets him a two count followed by a stiff knee drop for another near fall. Dolph dropkicks Barrett out of the ring as we go to commercial…

Back from break, Dolph is in the corner reversing Barrett’s strikes, but misses a big splash and Barrett covers for two. We see that during the break, Barrett hit a big boot that knocked Dolph off the apron. Back in the now, Ziggler is whipped into the corner and tries to go up and over Barrett, but gets kicked in the face instead for a near fall. More knee drops by Barrett lead into a modified surfboard stretch, but Ziggler won’t give up and fights out of it with a jawbreaker. He hits the ropes and runs right into a Winds of Change for two. Barrett tells everyone to bow down to the king to some nice heat. Ziggler hits a big Fameasser out of nowhere and covers, but Sheamus runs in to break up the pin and cause a DQ.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler via DQ in 9:00

*Barrett and Sheamus continue the assault until Neville runs out for the save. He clears the ring which of course leads us to…

*Neville and Dolph Ziggler vs Sheamus and King Barrett

This match actually started during the break, so the time will be a bit off. Sheamus is beating the crap out of Neville before Neville starts hitting some kicks. He goes to jump over Sheamus, but Sheamus catches him, knocks Ziggler off the apron and then hits the Irish Curse backbreaker for two. Barrett tags in and goes to work on Neville, hitting a big backbreaker for another two count. Neville fights back and goes to tag in Barrett, but Neville takes a vicious big boot instead. Sheamus tags in now and hits another knee drop on Neville. He locks in a side head lock and starts wrenching it to add extra emphasis that he’s a vicious vicious red headed viking man. Neville starts fighting back, but Sheamus says nope and hits a tilt a whirl backbreaker before playing to the crowd. Sheamus goes for his “10 beats of the Bodhran” but only gets to three before Neville gets a guillotine. Does Sheamus ever get all ten anymore? Neville pulls himself inside and goes to tag in Ziggler, but Sheamus tries to powerslam him only for Neville to fall out of it into the corner. Sheamus charges, but Neville moves and gets the hot tag. Barrett gets the tag and he starts clearing house before hitting a huge DDT on Barrett for two. An series of exchanges ends with Ziggler hitting a big superkick for a two count. Sheamus runs in and goes for the Brogue Kick, but Dolph moves and clotheslines Sheamus outside the ring. Neville hits a big plancha on Sheamus. Barrett tries to roll up Ziggler but only gets a two as Neville breaks it up. Barrett tries to yell at Neville, but Ziggler comes from behind and hits a Zig Zag for the win.

Winners: Neville and Dolph Ziggler in 7:00

*We get hype for a six man tag later tonight that has The New Day facing off against Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and a Mystery Partner.

*Renee Young interviews Dean Ambrose. He says the odds of him winning at Payback are better than they were before Monday. He talks about creating chaos for the Authority by walking out of Payback the new WWE Champion. He’s interested in the contract signing later tonight and says nobody is gonna be happy to see him.

*Luke Harper vs Fandango

Back from break, Luke Harper is on his way out to the ring, and Fandango actually had a pop…until he came out and it went silent. We start with Harper trying his hand at Fandangoing, I guess to mock him as he just kicked him in the gut from there. Scoop slam by Harper, he tries another but Fandango comes back with some chops, a dropkick and a spinning heel kick. He hits a decent looking tornado DDT and goes up top, but Harper slams him off the ropes and hits a superkick followed by his Discus Lariat for the win.

Winner: Luke Harper in 1:30

*After the match, Erick Rowan comes down to the ring and attacked Fandango while Harper looks on confused. Rowan used a Full Nelson Slam before he left. Two guys on the roster using the same finisher? Okay then.

*More hype for the contract signing before we go to commercial.

*Back from  break, Lana is in the ring and she gets a big pop with a bunch of “Lana” chants. She’s enjoying the chants, but requests the fans don’t cheer for her as it angers Rusev, who is out next. He kicks Lana out of the ring and sends her to the back to big heat. He proceeds to talk about Cena and their I Quit match at Payback. He says he’ll crush Cena  He says Cena’s victories over him have all been flukes and miracles. He switches between Russian and English. He threatens to expose Cena to the world. Please, Rusev, please do not do that. He challenges Cena to meet him face to face on Raw.

*Roman Reigns is with Renee Young backstage. He says he doesn’t have any concerns about the main event. He says Ambrose is the only guy in the match he likes, that he’s like a brother to him. He said he’s bringing the biggest fight the world has ever seen. Believe that.

*Our six man tag match is next as we go to commercial.

*The New Day vs Cesaro, Tyson Kidd and Ryback

Ryback and Kofi start things off and Kofi ducks a tie up attempt and uses his quickness to take advantage against Ryback. They randomly go right into a hammerlock exchange before Ryback calls Kofi stupid and hits a big shoulder block. Kidd tags in and hits a dropkick on Kofi for a quick kick out. Woods tags in now and Kidd takes him down and locks on a headlock. Cesaro tags himself in and he takes Woods out with a shoulder block and a stalling suplex. Big E comes in and Ryback cuts him off and stall suplexes him as well, Kofi runs in then and Kidd catches him with a suplex as well. Nice little spot there. Cesaro stomps Woods in the corner and Kidd tags in and continues the work. Ryback tags in next and starts stomping to the New…Day Sucks chant. Kidd tags back in and Woods is on the apron, he hits a sunset flip but Kidd rolls through and goes for a sharpshooter. Woods gets to the ropes and crawls under before Kidd hits a suicide dive. Cesaro hits one on Kofi and Ryback takes out Big E with a shoulder block outside the ring. Inside, Kidd whips Woods into the corner, but Woods reverses it and tosses Kidd to the apron before hitting a dropkick that knocks him of the apron. Kofi tags in, but Big E rams Kidd back and forth into the barricade and into the apron a few times as we go to commercial.

Back from break, Kidd is in the ring and Woods tags in with a tornado DDT for two. Big E tags in for the first time and hits a big belly to belly suplex. He stalks Kidd and hits a second one, covering for a two count. Woods tags back in with Kidd in the corner, but Kidd dodges a splash and goes for the hot tag, but Kofi knocks Cesaro off the apron. Ryback gets the hot tag and clears New Day before Kofi goes for a springboard crossbody that Ryback reverses into a big spinebuster. Ryback hits Kofi with a big belly to belly as Cesaro tags himself in and hits a huge amount of corner uppercuts. Kidd tags in and he hits an assisted elbow drop off Cesaro’s shoulders for a two as Big E broke it up. Big E goes for the Big Ending on Ryback, but Ryback clears the ring of Big E and Woods. Woods is crawling away from Ryback as the lights go out with a Bray Wyatt video. Cesaro goes for some sort of tornado ddt or blockbuster type move on Big E outside, but it’s horribly botched, I mean just awful. Inside, Kofi rolls up Kidd for the win.

Winners: The New Day in 13:00

*Randy Orton is backstage with Renee Young, he says he’s gonna hit whoever is closest to him and win back the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

*Emma vs Naomi w/ Tamina Snuka

Back from break, Emma is already in the ring and Naomi comes out to silence. We get to see a little promo from Naomi and she continues to prove she is the absolute worst talker in wrestling history. Seriously, get the microphone away from her. We start with a lock up and Naomi takes quick advantage ramming Emma’s head into the turnbuckle before stomping away in the corner. Emma fights back with some strikes and rams her head into the turnbuckle followed by a dropkick for two. Naomi takes advantage after slamming Emma’s head onto the mat and pounding away. The camera continues to cut to Tamina every 15 seconds. Neckbreaker by Naomi followed by a stomp and choke in the bottom rope. She tries to rake the eyes on the top rope, but it’s very very clear that Emma’s forearm is very much in the way. Naomi hits a standing dropkick for two. She slams Emma back into the turnbuckle and goes for a splash, but Emma moves and rolls her up for two. Another roll up gets another two count, and a third one with the same result. Naomi rolls up Emma now for a two. Emma hits the rope buts run into Naomi’s ass, I mean the Rear View, for the win.

Winner: Naomi in 3:20

*After the match, Tamina and Naomi beat Emma down.

*We get more Tough Enough Audition tapes.  Followed by more hype for the contract signing later tonight.

*Back from break, Renee Young is with Seth Rollins and J&J Security. He says he’s the man who makes impossible possible. He uses Wrestlemania as an example. Renee says Kane said the only reason he had that moment was because of Kane. Rollins takes offense to that and makes fun of Kane some more. He says Kane is jealous, and says he has something Kane will never have and points to his head. I guess Kane will never have blonde streaks in his hair, I find that believable.

*Los Matadores vs Lucha Dragons

Kalisto and Matador 1 start off with some fast chaining. Fernando is apparently Matador 1. Kalisto hits a nice headscissors on Fernando followed by a springboard head lock takedown. Sin Cara tags in and hits the slingshot senton before hitting a headscissors of his own on Fernando. Sin Cara locks in a side headlock and Fernando tries to roll out of it, but Sin Cara hangs on. Diego gets a tag and hits a tilt a whirl backbreaker on Sin Cara. Fernando back in and Sin Cara tries a springboard crossbody to both guys but they catch him. They flip Sin Cara to the side, but Sin Cara twists into an arm drag that sends Diego(?) to the outside. Fernando tries to flip Sin Cara onto the apron, but he does a headstand on the top rope, so Fernando kicks him in the face and he falls to the outside where El Torito hits a senton off the apron. Getting crushed by a bull must be devastating to the ribs. This match is apparently going to continue after the commercial break

Back from break, Matadores hit a double brain buster on Sin Cara. Fernando is in the ring now from what I understand. Sin Cara fights of both guys and hits a nice suplex variation and gets the hot tag to Kalisto. He hits a huge springboard crossbody followed by a springboard tornillo and a hurricanrana that drives Diego face first into the mat. This dude is quick as hell. He covers, but Fernando breaks up the pin. He tosses Kalisto into the ropes but Kalisto does a handless handspring into the ropes and comes back with an enziguri. Seriously, I have no idea what the hell to call that, but it was awesome. Sin Cara comes in and tries to suicide dive between Kalisto’s legs, but botches it badly and doesn’t even come close. Diego tries to roll up Kalisto, but only gets a two. Sin Cara tags in and misses a swanton, but rolls up Diego for the three. Side note: I really want to see Kalisto vs Neville.

Winners: Lucha Dragons in 8:30

*After the match, Diego tosses El Torito aside. Don’t make a bull angry, Diego.

*Up next is the contract signing as we go to commercial.

*Kane is in the ring to oversee the signing. Orton is out first, then Roman Reigns, then Dean Ambrose. Ambrose gets by far the biggest pop of the three and it’s not even close. Seth Rollins comes out with J&J but doesn’t come to the ring at first. Ambrose calls Rollins’ Justin Bieber. Rollins says what we all thought and says he’d rather listen to Ambrose crack jokes than listen to Reigns try to form sentences. He says Kane is the Director of Operations and therefore can sign the contract for him. Kane says it’s not gonna happen. Rollins reluctantly comes down to the ring as a big “Justin Bieber” chant breaks out. He sends Mercury to fetch the contract to the steps and he looks it over on the outside. Rollins tries to drive a wedge between Reigns and Ambrose. Everybody stands up as Rollins signs the contract. Ambrose starts moving the chairs out of the way and wedges the table in the corner as Kane and Rollins argue. Ambrose says “we all know how this is gonna end anyway” and calls dibs on the table before trying to throw Mercury through it but it doesn’t break as a brawl breaks out. Orton attacks Rollins, Ambrose attacks J&J and Reigns attacks Kane. Ambrose then hits a suicide dive onto Kane and tosses Rollins into the barricade. Roman hits Kane with a Superman Punch and Rollins tries to crawl through the ring. Orton goes for the RKO, but Rollins escapes. Ambrose and Reigns argue in the ring before Orton levels Ambrose with an RKO. Reigns lays out Orton with a Superman Punch and Rollins hits a flying knee and superkick to take out Reigns. We close the show with Rollins standing tall with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
