On the latest episode of The ARN Show, Arn Anderson talked about the physical decline he experienced in late 1996, eventually leading to his retirement from the ring the following year.
Anderson described the persistent warning signs—including tingling sensations and a loss of strength—that he initially tried to ignore while maintaining his WCW schedule. You can check out some highlights below:
On the Neck Surgery:
“The surgery finished me. It was just — I was off three months rehabbing, and that was just to get me back to where I could travel. It wasn’t to wrestle. You know, the wrestling days were over.”
On Knowing Something Wasn’t Right:
“I knew there was something more going on. I was — you know. You know when your body starts failing you. It’s, ‘Why is it tingling over here, and why is this bicep not strong like it was?’ And all kind of things. Your body will tell you. If you’re stupid enough to not listen, well that’s the story of a lot of our lives. We just kept on and kept on, kept on until it was too late.”
