Backstage Note on Tommaso Ciampa Leaving WWE

As previously reported, WWE Superstar Tommaso Ciampa announced that he’s leaving WWE at the end of his current contract “in the very near future.” Fightful Select reports that Ciampa has not been backstage at WWE as of late, and it’s said that he’s not planned for additional shows as of now.

As noted, the 40-year-old wrestler is said to be looking to go to NJPW and is looking for indie bookings, per The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. So fans likely shouldn’t expect Tommaso Ciampa to appear on AEW TV right away.

Ciampa’s #DIY tag team partner, Johnny Gargano, did wrestle on WWE SmackDown last night, losing to Nathan Frazer in a singles bout. #DIY won the WWE Tag Team Titles two times as part of the SmackDown roster during their latest run.
