Update On Bandido’s Shoulder Injury Possibly Being A Work

Bandido is coming off a big win over Hechicero at a CMLL show, after which he claimed that he dislocated his shoulder during the match and then put it back in place. In an earlier report, Dave Meltzer noted that Bandido sold the injury backstage but that some were skeptical if it was a real injury.

In today’s Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestlingInc), Meltzer said he is now “certain” that the injury was a work.

“I’m certain that was a work,” Meltzer said. “It was a really well-done match. They went … 13 minutes or so, and Bandido’s doing some stuff and Hechicero’s working on his shoulder. … They do something and Bandido starts screaming in pain and it’s total selling. He’s doing the thing where he can’t move the arm, but he’d done all of his power stuff earlier.”

Meltzer pointed to a referee, and not a doctor, coming out to check on Bandido during the match, and how the injured shoulder was part of the story for the match as Hechicero focused on it throughout.

Bandido and Brody King, Brodido, are set to defend their AEW World Tag Team Titles against Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada on tonight’s AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday.
