Brody King On What It Was Like to Work a Match With His Jaw Wired Shut, Talks Favorite Villain
– Brody King spoke with ROH for a new “10 Questions” Q&A, discussing having his jaw wired shut and more. Highlights are below:
On the best advice he’s ever received: “‘Wrestlers gotta be tough. If you don’t want to get kicked in the teeth, go play chess.’ Told to me by my trainer, Joey Kaos.”
On working a match with his jaw wired shut: “It sucked! (laughs) I don’t think you realize how important opening your mouth is when it comes to breathing until you’re in the middle of the match feeling like you’re going to pass out. The thought of calling it off definitely crossed my mind, but, hey, wrestlers gotta be tough, right?”
On his band God’s Hate: “We just demoed five new songs for an LP that we should be completing in the spring. Hopefully have it released in the summer under our record label, Closed Casket Activities.”
On his favorite fictional villain: “I’ve always loved Kingpin from the Daredevil series. There’s something about having a relatable villain that makes the story so much more interesting when you can see that they are justified in their own mind, and there’s part of you that goes, ‘Hey, man, I get it.'”
