Tommaso Ciampa Names AEW National Title, Challenged By Mike Bailey

Tommaso Ciampa has revealed the name for his new AEW National Championship and has been challenged by Mike Bailey. As noted Ciampa defeated Andrade El Idolo on last night’s episode of AEW Collision in order to lay claim to the title. Ciampa has a proclivity toward giving his titles nicknames, and he revealed in a post-Collision video that the National Championship is “Ruby” to him.

“10 months in AEW, and I’m rewriting the damn playbook,” Ciampa said (per Fightful) “You can call me the history maker. My debut here, first man ever to win a singles title in his first ever match at the company. Now, I am the first man in the history of professional wrestling to win a title on television on a damn cruise ship. Tommaso Ciampa, 10 months, TNT champion, National champion. I said it from day one. I’m the new belt collector and I’m taking every damn title until I take the world title. But this one right here, this one right here is special, and she tells me her name is Ruby. Say hello to Ruby. Isn’t she lovely? Isn’t she lovely?”

Ciampa already has his first title defense set, as Bailey laid out the challenge for this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Bailey is a member of United Empire in AEW and a stablemate of El Idolo’s. AEW has since confirmed that the match is official.

You can see the updated card below for this week’s Dynamite and Collision, which will take place at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah and air live on HBO Max & TBS in the US, plus MyAEW Internationally:

* AEW National Championship Match: Tommaso Ciampa vs. Mike Bailey

* The New Level vs. Brodido
* A face-to-face between AEW World Champion Will Ospreay & Kyle Fletcher.

411Mania, as usual, will have live coverage of the show.
