Former WWE Superstar CJ Perry (FKA Lana) recently gave her take on WWE Unreal.

Earlier this year, World Wrestling Entertainment launched a new behind-the-scenes docuseries that takes fans into the writer’s room and provides a never-before-seen insight into the wrestling business.

Naturally, WWE Unreal has drawn mixed reactions, with old-school fans suggesting that the company is exposing the business. In a recent appearance on TMZ’s Inside The Ring, CJ Perry gave her thoughts on the matter. The erstwhile Lana said that she has no issues with WWE Unreal because she is currently consuming wrestling as a fan, and also because she loves to witness the insider stuff.

However, she admitted that things would have been different had she been currently involved with the business. Perry also acknowledged that several people in the business, including WWE talents, are not happy with it, as they feel that too much information is being revealed to fans.

“It’s interesting because I’m in a different situation right now, because I’m a little removed. I’m really enjoying wrestling because I’m watching it as a fan versus, like, when you are on the other end of business, inside, it’s hard to watch it as a fan because you want that spot. So, for example, AJ Lee returning. That’s like a big moment. She’s going viral all over the place; kids are dressing up, and men are dressing up as her. But I just feel when you are in the locker room, ‘Oh, that could be my spot,’ or ‘That could be my headline.’ And it’s not just the girls; it’s also the guys. There are only so many spots, and this is a competition, and people should feel that competitive nature to get that spot.

“So I think with the Unreal stuff, I really like it because I’m watching it as a fan, and I like the insider thing. But I noticed a lot of people in the business are not so happy about that. I don’t want to give names away but I know there’s a lot of guys that they [SIC] had to get calls from Nick Khan saying, ‘I want you to do this.’ A lot of people are nervous that we are giving too much information away inside, like talent as well. But I love it because I’m a performer, and I like to see the ins and outs.”

CJ Perry also went on to compare the mixed reactions to WWE Unreal to what Total Divas encountered a decade ago.

“It’s probably like a Total Divas thing. Some people loved it. Total Divas really opened up to a whole other fan base. Women and a ton of new men. It’s just a different genre of people. People consumed it. But a lot of people in wrestling thought we were giving away too much.”
