CM Punk had a little more spice to him during his appearance on this week’s WWE Smackdown, throwing some shade Seth Rollins’ way and indirectly referencing his biggest controversy of the year. Punk appeared on Friday’s show and cut a promo where he teased which brand he might sign with, noting that he spoke with Nick Aldis already and would speak with Adam Pearce about Raw and Shawn Michaels about NXT before announcing were he’s signing on Monday’s episode of Raw.

During the promo, Punk spoke about several members of the Smackdown roster. He acknowledged Roman Reigns but reminded Reigns that he was the original Paul Heyman guy, and said that he has a lot of history with Randy Orton. He said he could team up with Kevin Owens against the Bloodline, but noted, “Kevin’s a little bit prickly and him and I are probably too much alike. And I don’t know who would feel comfortable working with somebody who randomly just punches people in the face backstage. I mean, it’s 2023 ladies and gentlemen! You just can’t be doing stuff like that. That’s insane!”

Punk was of course referencing his own backstage fights in AEW, both at All Out 2022 and his altercation with Jack Perry at All In this year.

Punk also made reference to Seth Rollins, though he didn’t name Rollins who has been vocal on WWE TV about not wanting Punk back. Punk said everyone was happy to have him back “except that one guy,” referring to Rollins as a “bad apple” and saying that “he’s not even The Man in his own household.”
