Cook’s Lucha Libre AAA Review 6.13.26

Then. Now. Forever. Together!

We’re in Mexico City! Galeno is WALKING! Lola Vice & Mr. Iguana are WALKING! Corey Graves is joined by JBL, Rey Mysterio is busy with his General Managing duties this week.

Handicap Match: Galeno vs. Golden Jacket & Galio: Double clothesline by Galeno. Galio & Jacket run into Galeno and go right down. Galio gets tossed over the top rope onto Jacket. Jacket gets powerbombed on the apron. Galio gets bounced off the ringpost and thrown to the ground. Galeno rolls both men back into the ring. Clotheslines in the corner to Jacket. Galio gets exploded into Jacket. Cannonball in the corner by Galeno. Galio gets chokeslammed, Jacket is pulled to the middle of the ring so Galeno can go up top and hit a frog splash. Galeno covers both for three.

Winner: Galeno (3:15 via pinfall)
Match Rating: **1/2
I like me a good squash match. Big dudes beating up lesser guys is what televised wrestling was built on for decades. I don’t need a whole show of it, but a little bit here and there in order to build somebody is fun.

Dorian Roldan talks to Omos about what Galeno just did. Omos says he wants three. Three people is my guess, but we’ll find out later.

La Parka, Octagon Jr. & El Fiscal vs. Los Vipers (Abismo Negro Jr., Histeria & Taurus): Kinda awkward that this match ended up airing after the show where Octagon Jr. got injured, but it kinda takes me back to the old days when Prime Time Wrestling would air matches that were months old. Good times. Taurus & Octagon starts. Octagon evades Taurus on a couple of strikes, springboards into a rana. Tag to Fiscal, double elbowblock, then Fiscal lifts Octagon and drops him on Taurus. Cover gets two. Frequent tags, Parka & Octagon both target Tarus’s arm. Twisting plancha by Octagon, he tames Taurus down, then hits a spinning headscissors. Abismo tags in, so Fiscal tags in! Abismo tags Histeria instead. Fiscal takes Histeria down and tags Parka. Parka does some dancing, Taurus does some kicking. Parka kicks Taurus, Taurus evades Taurus with some handsprings then hits a funky kick. Abismo tags in and Los Vipers triple team Parka. A series of kicks take Parka down for two. Parka fires away on Abismo, but he fights back and swats at Fiscal in the corner. A double vertical suplex with a crossbody splash gets two for Los Vipers. Parks slips out of a suplex attempt and faceplants Taurus. Fiscal and Histeria tag in. Fiscal takes Taurus down, elbows both, then hits a double crossbody. Fiscal throws Histeria into Abismo and that counts as a tag. They trade shots in the middle of the ring. Abismo with some chops. Fiscal hits a rana, then dives onto Abismo on the outside! They continue fighting up the ramp and exit the arena. In the ring, Octagon & Histeria go at it on the turnbuckle. Taurus gets whipped into Histeria and falls outside. Parka moonsaults Taurus. Octagon hits the moonsault fall away slam for the three count!

Winners: La Parka, Octagon Jr. & El Fiscal (8:44 via pinfall)
Match Rating: ***1/4
Hopefully Octagon is able to come back soon, since getting the pin here tells me that they’ve got plans for him. I thought Fiscal was impressive here, and his feud with Abismo continues to be interesting. I feel like the ideal conclusion to their feud would be a mask match since the persona of the original Abismo Negro is the whole thing behind it, but I can’t see them running another Mask vs. Mask match anytime soon. At least I hope they wouldn’t do it so soon.

We see a video recap of El Hijo del Vikingo defeating El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. at Noche de Los Grandes for the Latin American Championship.

Handicap Match: Omos vs. Chris Carter, Kingu & Daimo: Since Galeno beat up two people earlier, Omos wants to beat up three people now. Makes sense. Omos splashes all three in the corner. He beals each one. Omos splashes everyone in the corner. Omos smacks Carter in the chest. Omos lifts two of them, places them on the top rope and sends them back to the middle of the ring. Double chokeslam, the other one runs into a big boot. Omos hits the Last Ride, then stacks them up and sits on them for the three count.

Winner: Omos (2:39 via pinfall)
Match Rating: **1/2
See my commentary for the Galeno squash. I will say that I felt worse for the three guys here than I did for Galeno’s victims.

We see clips of Las Toxicas getting beat by Bayley, La Catalina & Lola Vice at Nocha de Los Grandes.

Next Week: El Grande Americano returns! “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio will be live! There will be a big announcement from Rey Mysterio!

Mixed Tag Team Championship Match: Lola Vice & Mr. Iguana (c) vs. La Hiedra & Joaquin Wilde: Hiedra has challenged for this championship with more men during her career than I’ve had…never mind. The “Mami from Miami” nickname for Lola is catchy, but a bit too much gimmick infringement for my tastes. Rhea will be back in the ring someday! For now, it’s Lola & Hiedra. They go back & forth, Hiedra with some strikes, but Lola hooks an armbar. She rolls Hiedra up for two, kicks her. Hiedra tags Wilde, who comes in and does a dance for Lola until Yesca intervenes. Iguana with flying headscissors to Wilde. Wilde takes him over with a neckbreaker and stomps away at Iguana. Wilde with a seated headlock, Iguana gets to his feet, Wilde’s suplex is turned into an inside cradle, but Wilde answers that with a DDT. Corey & JBl burying Wilde’s hairstyle on commentary is pretty funny. Wilde hits a rana out of the corner for two. Wilde punches Iguana in the corner, then Iguana fights back. Hiedra kicks Iguana in the back, then Vice does the same to Wilde, Iguana hits a shining lizard. Tag to Lola! She dives onto Hiedra and rolls her in the ring. Kicks to Hiedra. Lola stomps away on Hiedra, then kicks Wilde some before Iguana kicks him into the corner. Double hip attack! Lola back suplexes Hiedra for two. Hiedra takes Lola over with a spinebuster for two. They both go for the hair mare and the men tag in. Iguana cross-bodies Wilde for two. Wilde with a superkick. Wilde misses the Lionsault, Iguana hits a tornado DDT of sorts for the three count!

Winners: Lola Vice & Mr. Iguana (8:12 via pinfall)

We’ve seen Lola & Iguana vs. Hiedra for awhile now and it’s the usual thing that people like, but I thought Wilde added a bit with his innovative offense. And funky hair, we can’t forget about the hair. Hey, whatever it takes to get noticed.

Hiedra attacks Iguana with a forearm! Vice attacks her, Wild pulls her off and gets backfisted! Flammer & Marivilla run down and join Hiedra for a three on one until Bayley & La Catalina attack! Hiedra & Marivilla are knocked to the floor so Flammer can get beat up by Bayley, Catalina & Vice before getting pulled to safety. That brings our show to an end, so long for now!

Some pretty solid action tonight from AAA, nothing that's absolutely must-see but it's definitely not a waste of time. Next week should be super interesting with the returns of El Grande Americano & Dirty Dom, setting up the assumed main feud for TripleMania. That should be fun. Until next time!
