The former Dakota Kai recently looked back at her time in Damage CTRL and how much that group helped her as a performer. Kai returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2022 as part of the group after a few months away from the company. The faction had some strong runs and Kai won the Women’s Tag Team Championships with Kai before they eventually split.

Kai (now Charlie) talked about how important that time was for her as a performer on Insight With Chris Van Vliet. She also recalled the group’s golf cart celebration after she and SKY on the titles. You can see highlights below:

On Things ‘Leveling Up’ With Damage CTRL:

“Yeah, like from the start. I think they had big ideas for us to be this dominant faction. Obviously, things change here and there, and I don’t know, and it felt good for me to be part of a group. Like I said, I work better in a group, but there could have been better opportunities for us. Bayley was doing her darndest to try and pitch more for us. But it’s just the way it goes sometimes.”

On the Golf Cart Celebration After She & IYO SKY Won the Tag Titles:

“And with Bayley driving it. I forgot about all of that stuff. I don’t know. I just, it’s so funny, because some of the ideas we don’t know until the day of, and then they’re just like, ‘Oh yeah, we got this golf cart.’ I’m like, oh, cool. So we’re just gonna go down the ramp and Bayley is driving it. So hopefully nothing bad goes wrong with that. Yeah, that’s so random. I loved it. I think it was just like, we’ll just put you guys on a golf cart and just celebrate. And I was like, All right, I’m all for it. I love when wrestling gets weird and just like, does stuff for the sake of doing stuff. So, yeah, we had a golf cart, no reason, and we never had it again. I was like I wish we could have that as our entrance.”
