Former WWE Superstar David Otunga has uploaded a new long-form video to his official YouTube channel, in which he detailed an incident involving John Cena that made him see the 17-time World Champion and the company in a different light. While the video is currently available to the channel members, it is set to premiere this Friday.

Otunga detailed an incident from a WWE house show in Paris on September 24, 2010, when he teamed up with Wade Barrett to take on Cena and Evan Bourne. The former Nexus member revealed that a spot, recommended to him by Goldust, during the match put Cena off, and the 48-year-old started cussing him and hitting him for real. Otunga further added that things got ugly once they went backstage.

Detailing the incident, he said:

“Cena is pi**ed. He’s kicking my a** in there for real and cussing me out, telling me how terrible I am… and I remember being so embarrassed. Cena goes crazy… totally dressing me down and just telling me like… I’m not a real wrestler. I shouldn’t be here.

“But he knew better than to put his hands on me. I’m gonna tell you right now, if John Cena put his hands on me backstage, I would have beat the dog sh*t out of John Cena and fast.”

Otunga further revealed how the incident affected him emotionally.

“I started getting, like, tears of anger… Because what do you do? It actually changed the way I saw John Cena forever. It actually changed the way I saw the company, too.”

Otunga also discussed several backstage stories involving John Cena, including the night when Husky Harris was sent back to FCW.

“I can confirm that did indeed happen. People talk about it like an urban legend, but that definitely happened.”

He also revealed Goldust’s reaction after Cena went off on him.

“The first thing he says is, ‘Man, that’s f***ed up. He should never talk to anybody like that.’”

However, David Otunga surprisingly ended the video on a positive note, acknowledging Cena as The Greatest of All Time and claiming that he eventually earned the latter’s respect.

“I’m at peace with him,” he says. “He is one of the greatest of all time… and eventually I gained his respect. This is what happened… and it’s taken me 15 years to tell this story.”
