Defy Wrestling Results 4.07.17: Davey Richards vs. Jeff Cobb Featured, Angelina Love in Action

Defy 2, Wolves at the Door from Washington Hall in Seattle, Washington.

This was the first time I’ve ever attended an Indy show, and bought tickets for the next show on my way out the door. Washington Hall is a small venue that holds maybe 500 people. But even with a GA ticket I was maybe 15 feet from the ring. Great venue to see a show!

Darby Allin over Mike Santiago. Darby Allin is dragged to the ring in a body bag, has good look, but on the small size. But certainly had the gimmick and charisma part down. Mike Santiago is a good hand, played the heel well.

Sexi Mexis over Batboy and La Avispa. Lucha tag match rules, was somewhat of a botch fest but the crowd still bought in. All worked hard but they didn’t really click in the ring, but the crowd really ready for a good night and was hot everything.

King Khash over Radman. Khash had a middle eastern gimmick with the pointy curly toe boots which I popped for. Radman has a Cat on his trunks, which resulted in a meowing chant that was hilarious. Then meow chant is the only memorable take away from the match.

Shane Strickland over Lio Rush. This stole the show and closed out the first half before intermission. These guys went at it. Lots of dives, chops and near falls. I’ve never seen Rush before and I can see why there are rumors he may have signed or be signing with the WWE. He’d kill it on 205 live. Crowd was on fire for this match. Post match Strickland announced he’d be back for Defy 3 and would be facing Johnny Mundo!!!

Eddie Van Glam over Steve West. Glam is straight out of the 80s hair metal scene. Local boy, with lots of fans. Comedy match, wasn’t my cup of tea but the crowd ate it up. Steve West, “Simply the Best” played a great heel though.

Angelina Love beat Catie Carny and Su Yung in a 3 way match. If the WWE ever has a Sister Abigail it has to be Su Yung. Her Zombie bride entrance was was so hot that the smoke machine tripped the fire alarm and everyone had to go stand in the rain for 10 minutes till we were let back in. The break killed the crowd some what and it didn’t look like everyone came back in. Girls worked hard. Su is a star in the making and Carny had a good look. Angelina is in amazing shape after having a kid!

Terrell Nelson over Carl The catch (Braun Strowman victim match). Two guys that Braun Strowman killed on Raw. Decent match, but the highlight was post match when Terrell pointed out a cancer survivor in the crowd that was far more over than the match.

Davey Richards beat Jeff Cobb in a solid match. Pentagon Jr was suppose to face Richards but a family emergency kept him in Mexico. Cobb is a monster, but he is way shorter than I thought he was. Lucha Underground does an amazing job making him look like a monster.

So glad I decided to check out my first indy show, can’t wait to go back on May 26th for Strickland v Mundo! Pentagon will be back in June with Fenix!
