UPDATED: More Details On Why Jennifer Hudson Lifted Restraining Order Against David Otunga

UPDATED: TMZ reports that a source close to Jennifer Hudson says that Hudson would have no issues testifying in court and that she has witnesses to back up her story regarding the altercation that allegedly occurred the night before she filed the order of protection. The source also adds that Hudson would not make something like that up and put her child through something like that.

ORIGINAL: As we reported yesterday, David Otunga was named the primary caregiver of his eight-year-old son David Jr. on a temporary basis, while Jennifer Hudson also dropped the restraining order against him. This seems to be in stark contrast with why she filed the order in the first place. At the time, she said she was “now living in fear for my physical and emotional safety and that of my son.”

TMZ has more details about why Hudson ended up dropping the order, and it has to do with Otunga no longer being in the family home. Sources say she made the decision, along with all of her other decisions, in David Jr.’s best interest. The reason she wanted Otunga out of their home and initial filed for the order was that she was concerned their son would suffer emotional trauma if he witnessed Otunga threaten Hudson. Hudson never accused Otunga of physically threatening the boy. But now that Otunga is out of the home, Hudson believes the psychological risk to their son is gone.

Meanwhile, sources also claim that Hudson has made being a mother her top priority even with a busy schedule. When she went to London to film The Voice last year, she brought both her son and Otunga, and paid Otunga’s mother to tutor David Jr. She also did this during her six-month run on The Color Purple on Broadway. David Jr. is currently with Otunga while Hudson works in London. Sources close to Hudson claim that Otunga hasn’t won anything yet, as the judge hasn’t ruled on custody.
