Dominik Mysterio has discussed his recent series of matches with John Cena during the veteran’s farewell tour. Over the last two weeks, both competitors have met twice on Monday Night RAW. They are scheduled to compete in another Intercontinental Championship match at Survivor Series: WarGames. Speaking on ESPN’s First Take, Mysterio reflected on what the experience has meant to him.

Dominik Mysterio said it has been meaningful to participate in three of Cena’s final four matches. He referenced wrestling Cena at TD Garden and Madison Square Garden, noting that their next encounter will take place at Petco Park at Survivor Series. He also acknowledged Cena’s position within WWE and the influence Cena has had on the company’s presentation and style.

“It’s a huge blessing for me to be able to get three out of his last four matches in the WWE. I had mentioned it earlier. I was able to wrestle him at the TD Garden. Got to wrestle him in Madison Square Garden, and we’ll finish it off at Petco Park. So, for me, it’s a huge honor. He’s one of the best ever to do it, if not the best ever to do it in this business. Everything we do, we base it off of John Cena. He’s the golden boy for the WWE, so, for me, I’m excited to put the final nail in his coffin.”

Following Survivor Series, Cena is scheduled for his final match on December 13 on Saturday Night’s Main Event. That bout will complete his retirement schedule and mark the end of a career spanning multiple decades of WWE programming.
