Dominik Mysterio is still your AAA Mega Champion. After losing the WWE Intercontinental Championship to Penta a week ago on RAW, “Dirty” Dom managed to retain the other championship against El Grande Americano, and in doing so, he saved his career in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.

The early part of the match at AAA Rey de Reyes Week One was dominated by Vikingo, who used kendo sticks, steel chairs, and garbage cans to neutralize the champion.

Mysterio eventually made a comeback with a Sunset Flip. He then smacked Vikingo with the kendo stick before attempting the Three Amigos. Vikingo managed to escape the third, only to be hit with a Michinoku Driver. Dorian Roldan intervened to save Vikingo from a pinfall defeat. Mysterio shoved him into a corner, leading to Omos making his presence felt.

Later, Dorian grabbed the championship belt and handed it over to Vikingo. He strapped the belt and went for a Five-Star Frog Splash, but Dom moved away. Omos again took matters into his hands, as he Chokeslammed Dominik and then put Vikingo on the top rope. However, Mini Vikingo showed up and attacked him. Omos tried to manhandle Mini Vikingo, but Dom hit the Nigerian Giant with a low blow, which led to both him and Mini Vikingo hitting Omos with chairs.

Dom then hit Vikingo with the chair and then nailed the 619-Five Star Frog Splash combo to secure a pinfall win. According to the pre-match stipulation, Vikingo won’t be able to contest for the AAA Mega Championship as long as Dominik Mysterio is champion. Check out the highlights below:
