Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio often pushes the boundaries to generate heat.
However, there is one instance when he pushed the limits far too much for WWE’s liking. As a result, the AAA Mega Champion was handed a warning by the officials backstage.
In a recent interaction with Towers of Power, “Dirty” Dom recounted how he was once warned by the company officials for spitting on Dragon Lee during an NXT North American Championship in 2023. Dominik revealed that once he got backstage, he was told by officials that spitting was prohibited. To his credit, the younger Mysterio admitted his mistake, citing his ignorance about the rule.
“I never think it’s far enough. But I have gotten—I don’t want to say in trouble—but I’m the type of guy to ask for forgiveness before permission. There’s been a few times where I’ve gone to the back, and I’m like, ‘Oh sh*t, sorry. I didn’t know.’ One of them was I spit on Dragon Lee. I got to the back, first thing, they were like, ‘We don’t spit on people.’ I was like, ‘I didn’t know.’ I was like, ‘I didn’t spit on him,’ and I was like, ‘I spit my gum.’ And I was like, [it’s] two very different things. They were like, ‘Dom, we do not spit on people.’ I was like, ‘That’s my bad.’ I was like, ‘[That’s] on me; I didn’t know,'” he said. [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]
Meanwhile, Dominik Mysterio was recently dethroned as Intercontinental Champion by John Cena. He is set to have his rematch against The Unseen 17 at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29.
