Eric Bischoff Says Cody Rhodes ‘Has To Turn Heel,’ Could Be One Of The Best Of His Generation

On the latest episode of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff made the case that Cody Rhodes needs a heel turn, arguing that WWE is missing a certain kind of heel and that Cody has the ability to fill the void. You can check out some highlights below:
On Cody needing to turn heel:
“I think Cody has to turn heel. I feel that strongly about it because he’s played this character out. You’ve still got some juice left in that lemon — let it go while there’s still juice in it, because he can come back to it at some point. Don’t kill it, but he needs that, and WWE needs that. WWE needs a vicious heel, a lying, cheating kind of heel, not a badass heel. Badass heels aren’t really heels — those big, larger-than-life monsters that look like they can rip the head off anybody who steps in the ring with them are really cool, but they’re not heels.”
On what you need:
“You need somebody slippery, somebody greasy, somebody who’s physically credible but prefers the greasy way out. The simple stuff is basic, it’s crayons and stick-figure character development, but it always works, particularly when you’ve got a really, really great performer like Cody Rhodes. If he were to embrace it, I would predict he’d be one of the best heels of our generation. He has the potential. Will he do it? That’s up to WWE to a large degree, and probably up to Cody to a large degree. I freaking hope so. Come on, let’s get some stuff going here — it’s gotten a little boring, not all that exciting. Let’s change it.”
