Grayson Waller Retains NXT Title Against EK Prosper On WWE NXT

Grayson Waller beat back a strong challenge from EK Prosper to retain the NXT Championship on tonight’s episode of WWE NXT. As noted, Waller was set to defend the title against Mason Rook on Tuesday night’s show, but Rook was pulled after he was not medically cleared. Instead, Waller was booked in an open challenge on the show by NXT General Manager Robert Stone.

Prosper ended up being the person who answered the challenge, slipping into the ring as the rest of the roster was trying to get into the ring. Prosper proved to be quite the challenge for Waller, lasting over 16 minutes against the champion and coming close to winning on a few occasions.

The end of the match saw Prosper hit an Asai moonsault on Waller through the commentary table, then eventually pull him back into the ring for a frog splash off the top for a nearfall. Waller was able to counter a dive with a punch and hit a couple of Stunners to get the pinfall victory.
