Hangman Page managed to halt Andrade El Idolo’s momentum at Grand Slam: Australia, as he defeated the Mexican superstar to become the new number-one contender for the AEW World Championship.

The closing moments of the match saw Don Callis, who had joined the commentary table for the match, distract referee Aubrey Edwards, allowing Andrade to attempt a low blow on The Cowboy.

However, Hangman blocked it, and, to make matters worse, he hit Andrade with a low blow of his own. The former AEW World Champion followed it up with The Buckshot Lariat to earn a pinfall victory and a world championship match at next month’s Revolution PPV.

Page now awaits the winner of tonight’s AEW World Championship match between defending champ Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) and the challenger, Brody King.
