IYO SKY Defeats Asuka at WWE Backlash 2026

IYO SKY emerged victorious over her former mentor, Asuka, in a highly physical back-and-forth match at WWE Backlash 2026.

The match started off amid “We Want Kairi” chants from the crowd, as the two traded blows to seek control of the match. Asuka ultimately gained firm control before SKY hit back with the Missile Dropkick and the Bullet Train Attack.

However, Asuka didn’t back down and continued to fight her way back into the proceedings. Frustrated at not being able to make IYO tap out, she resorted to using the mist. However, SKY was alert this time around, as she used Wade Barrett’s notebook to block it. SKY then went for the Over the Moonsault, but The Empress of Tomorrow countered it with an Armbar and Asuka Lock. However, IYO once again managed to escape.

The two again traded blows before IYO gained a decisive advantage in the match when she hit the former world champion with the Bullet Train Attack. IYO went for another Over the Moonsault, and this time, she nailed it and secured a pinfall victory. After the match, a visibly emotional Asuka hugged and kissed IYO, seemingly turning babyface and putting an exclamation point on their rivalry.
