John Cena Captures Intercontinental Title On WWE Raw

John Cena has captured the one WWE title that eluded him, claiming the Intercontinental Championship on WWE Raw. Monday night’s show opened with Triple H and Cena coming to the ring. Cena began cutting a promo when Dominik Mysterio came out.

Mysterio said that he wanted to know what Triple H was going to do about his father Rey interrupting him last week. Cena then welcomed Mysterio to Boston and they went back and forth before Cena warned Mysterio not to start a fight. Mysterio said he would have beaten Cena in any era, and Triple H booked the title match.

The match went back and forth and saw Mysterio try and cheat to win. Mysterio hit the 619 and a frog splash for what appeared to be the victory. However, Cena rolled through back picked the champion up. He hit an Attitude Adjustment for the win and title. You can see highlights from the match below.

Cena has previously held every other current title in WWE. However, this is his first reign with the Intercontinental Championship. His victory ends Mysterio’s reign at 205 days. Mysterio won the title from Bron Breakker at WrestleMania 41 in April. He remains the AAA Mega Champion.
