John Cena Lands Next Movie Role in The Family Disappears

Former WWE Superstar and 17-time WWE Champion John Cena stars in Matchbox, hitting streaming this week. Now, the former wrestler has just booked his next movie role.
Deadline reports that Cena will star in the new comedy, The Family Disappears. The project is being produced by Fifth Season and is directed by Jonatan Eetzler. Cena will star in the movie opposite Emmy Award-winning actor David Harbour.
The new movie is an original script by writer Brendan O’Hare, and it reportedly has thriller undertones. The story follows an overworked dad who returns from a trip to find his family has disappeared, and a mysterious newcomer has bought and moved into their home.
Nick Weidenfeld is producing the feature Friends Night and Alexis Garcia through CAT5. They previously collaborated on the comedy Friendship, starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd, for Fifth Season and A24.
Production on the feature reportedly kicks off next month (Nov. 10) in Atlanta, Georgia. Meanwhile, Matchbox: The Movie, starring John Cena, hits Apple TV+ on Oct. 9.
