Keep Refreshing For The Latest Results

SICKOS! It’s Wednesday, you know what that means! AEW Dynamite is LIVE tonight from the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland, and we are one final edition of Dynamite away from the biggest show on the AEW Calendar, All-In London! But while we eagerly anticipate THAT show, we still have business that needs to be settled on tonight’s go-home episode, chief among them is finding out who will move on to the C3 Finals on Sunday!

For more on that and everything else, let’s roll out the Headlines!

  • The Cup (and Title) are in view! The Semifinals of the Continental Challenge Cup will play out tonight, as Nigel McGuinness (bad foot and all) is set to face Kyle O’Reilly, while on the other side, the “luck of the draw” will see Death Riders members Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli tangle.
  • Swerving in the Jungle! Swerve Strickland has made his targets known since he returned from a lengthy layoff, and one of these targets is Jungle Jack Perry, as both men will face-off tonight in what I feel COULD include some underlying currents for the Trios’ Titles Match on Sunday.
  • Foreshadowing, the game! Ahead of their tag team title match on Sunday, the Brawling Birds and the Champions Divine Dominion will mix it up in a trio’s match, with CMLL Women’s Champion Persephone teaming with the Champions, and TBS Champion Maya World teaming with the challengers.
  • YOU THINK YOU KNOW BUCKS! Christian Cage and Adam Copeland will defend their Tag Team titles against the Young Bucks on Sunday, but tonight, Adam will team with his opponents on Sunday to oppose Don Callis Family members Jake Doyle, Brian Cage, and Rocky Romero. All of this and, of course, so much more in store for us tonight!
  • So, how is everyone doing on this Hump Day? The Phillies nine-game winning streak and three series sweep in a row feel like ancient history now that they look like they are supposed to now. Call it Sleepless in Seattle. At least the Fever are winning, going 3-2 on a heinous road trip and a back-to-back weekend. More importantly, September will look to be more fun than usual for yours truly, with the Eagles 18 days away, the Flyers a little bit over a month away, plus the Cheap Trick show and AEW Dynamite in Pittsburgh eight days apart!

But enough me and enough about you, let’s get ready to make the Dynamite go BOOM!

    BOOM

And we’re getting RIGHT into it tonight with Excalibur and Tony Schiavone on the call! No Taz, the Helicopter ran out of fuel. No Paul, y’all!

Got dan old top, that arena looks amazing!

It’s BRUV Time! OI OI OI what are you saying, Scotland? OSPREAY singing chants. Will thanks them. It was a year ago he went in for neck surgery, so there have been a lot of ups and a lot of downs. And there was a lot of doubt. IF he came back, could he win the big one? People ask him what it’s like to be the British wrestler to be competing for the World Title. So, he wants us to understand where it began, because it began right here in Scotland, up to Wales, to Ireland, to England!

You look at your wage packet, and you realize you don’t have enough money to pay your bills. So, he took daytime construction jobs to support his dream BRUV! Will has proven that the UK is where the best wrestle. Most people hate it, but he loves it. He loved being in the fox hole with the likes of Doug Williams, Mark Haskins, and Joey Fleisch. He also name drops UK wrestlers who we lost, including Scotland’s own Lionheart. But it is also really hard to look past Canada’s own Kenny Omega. You see, Kenny isn’t here tonight (BOOO), but Will wants him to know that no one respects him more than he does. There is no one who appreciates what he has done for the business and for all the work he’s done.

BUT all of that respect went out the window when you brought up my son. His son won’t need a new hero after Sunday, because you are getting the Billy Goat, BRUV. On Sunday, you will get the very best that he has to give, and you will learn to not fuck with someone who is trying to be his son’s hero. BUT there is also a debt to be paid. The ones who have been here for him, the ones who have seen him, the ones who we have lost, the ones that are still here, and for his boy. And he wants to prove that heroes are people who can do extraordinary things. Sunday, he is taking it ALL!

We’re opening with the Death Riders explosion!

Continental Challenge Cup Semifinals Match: Jon Moxley vs. Claudio Castagnoli

The bell rings, as both men walk around for a bit. Greco Roman Knuckle Lock, which Claudio takes really easily. Claudio grounds Moxley, Jon tries to bridge out, but Claudio keeps him down. Moxley to his feet, they fight to the corner, clean break from Claudio. Moxley slaps him, so Claudio strikes back. This leads to a strike battle in the ring before Claudio tackles Moxley to the mat.

Claudio drops Moxley to the apron and then hits him with a forearm, sending Jon to the floor. Claudio follows him out, but Moxley with the double leg and he locks on the Figure-Four! Claudio frees himself, and he double legs Moxley and swings him into the barricade! That’ll take us to the first break of the evening.

Claudio has arm control as we return. Moxley tries to reverse with the Sleeper, but Claudio quickly backs him into the corner. Uppercut from Claudio, he cranks his neck, but his Neutralizer attempt sees Moxley land on his feet! Moxley with a slap, and he sends Castagnoli to the floor. Moxley with the Tope Sucida! Back in the ring, and Moxley initiates the corner punches. Claudio powers him out of the corner, Moxley tries a sunset flip, pump kick from Moxley, and both men clothesline each other.

Both men to their feet and we get a forearm battle. Moxley jumps around like Earthquake before Claudio fires back and sends Moxley to the mat. Jon blocks the uppercut with a backslide into a CUTTER! Moxley thinking Death Rider, but Claudio takes down Jon and applies the Fujiwara Arm Bar! Moxley to his feet, but Claudio swings Moxley around and he applies a grounded sleeper! Moxley turns the table with a crossarm breaker and a bite of Claudio’s hand. Moxley with a triangle, but Claudio to his feet and we’re going SWINGING!

Claudio looking sharpshooter, but Moxley kicks Castagnoli away. Uppercut from Claudio, and a running version of the uppercut sends Moxley to the floor. Claudio contemplates going outside, but he instead stays in the ring. Moxley looks at the Cup standing over him and finds the will to make it back in at nine! Unfortunately for Jon, Claudio is waiting with the STOMP! Neutralizer connects, but Moxley kicks out at 2.99999999999!

Off comes Claudio’s elbow pad looking for the running uppercut, but Moxley falls to the mat. Claudio picks him up by the pants, powerbomb is reversed into the Death Rider! CLAUDIO KICKS OUT AT ONE! Moxley turns that into the Bulldog Choke, Claudio fights for a little bit, but eventually he has to give it up!
    WINNER: Moxie Moxley!
    TIME: 15:55
THOUGHTS: Two tough guys beating the crap out of each other from the same stable will always be a good time. Castagnoli beating Garcia was fun, but Moxley winning here in an even better match was the right call.
    RATING: ***3/4

The Young Bucks will look to coalesce with Adam Copeland, next!

    BREAK IN PROGRESS!

AEW World Tag Team Champion Adam Copeland and the Young Bucks vs. The Don Callis Family

Brian Cage, Jake Doyle, and Rocky Romero are representing the DCF. Boy howdy, I wonder who is taking the loss here. Copeland and Doyle to start. The fans understand the assignment and serenade Don Callis even though he is absent lol. Copeland tries in vain to take Doyle down with a shoulder tackle, so Matt Jackson tags in and they do it together. Yay teamwork!

Cage enters the ring, and the Bucks take care of the MEAT on the team. Rocky thinks he is very clever and tries to take on the Bucks by himself, but that goes as well as you would expect. SEE YA kick on the apron from Nick to Doyle. Springboard face buster to Romero, but Nick’s moonsault is caught out by Cage, who slams him to the floor. That takes us to the break.

Nick Jackson with an enziguri to the head of Cage as we return. Cage cuts off a potential tag by knocking Nick’s brother and Copeland from the cage. Nick returns the favor in kind in the DCF corner. Cage drags Nick to the middle rope like he’s King Kong, but Nick counters with the Rana! Tags to Copeland and Doyle! Adam tagged himself in ahead of Matt lol.

Copeland goes to work on the DCF. Doyle accidently hits Romero, and Copeland with a front suplex to him. SPEAR attempt, but Doyle counters and takes out Copeland. The Bucks are in, they fight off Doyle and NEARLY SUPERKICK Copeland, allowing the DCF to triple team Adam. Sliced Bread from Rocky doesn’t get the job done lol. The Bucks take out Doyle and Romero on the floor, and they intercept Cage, who tried to suplex Copeland back into the ring. Rocky is back, he hits a double Rana to the Bucks and he screams GOAL! He gets a double SUPERKICK for his trouble. SPEAR from Copeland, and that’s a win!
    WINNERS: The Bucks of Cope!
    TIME: 9:25
THOUGHTS: It was fine. A little disjointed and the commercial break didn’t help when the match barely made nine minutes. But at least Rocky lost lol!
    RATING: ***1/4

Post-match, Christian Cage is here! Now that the hug-fest is over, it’s time for the Bucks to sit down and shut up while he conducts his business. He doesn’t have time for people that are inferior to him, and that is what the Bucks are. Don’t get him wrong, you guys are good, but you haven’t had as many titles as we have, and you haven’t had matches named after you. And this Sunday, you will learn the difference between influence, and legendary.

Nick Jackson says they may have named matches after you, but have they ever named a company after you? Last week, they “Accidently” kicked Cage in the face, but if he wants to keep talking smack, this time it will be on purpose. Everyone gets in each other’s faces, Cage kicks Matt in the balls, Nick SUPERKICKS Christian, and Adam SPEARS Nick! Copeland seems conflicted, but Cage is very happy with his handiwork.

Excalibur runs down the rest of the matches for tonight. He tells us that Kyle O’Reilly and Nigel McGuinness will face off next, but Willow’s music plays instead! But there is no Willow, as we see she has been laid out in the back. Mercedes Mone is the culprit, and she taunts Willow for not being able to speak to her fans, and she tells her this will be the last Dynamite that she is World Champion!

    BREAK IN PROGRESS!

The Remarkable Renee Paquette has Don Callis and Mark Davis in the back. Don says he feels refreshed after his vacation. Don doesn’t care who wins between Ospreay and Omega, because he has a surprise for the winner. Mark Davis will be in the Casino Gauntlet match, and if his number is called, he will win the match and win the World Title!

HOW YOU KNOW? Well, we don’t know, because Andrade doesn’t come out, instead MJF’s music hits. CUT MY MUSIC, CUT MUSIC! He is very happy to be here in sunny Ireland! Wait, we’re in Scotland? What’s the difference, you are all drunks. “Andrew” El Idolo was supposed to be here, but MJF paid off a few men to take care of him. And it’s not like what Andrew does is revolutionary. He wears a t-shirt like a schmuck and wears fake jewelry. And he could take a picture with a hot chick, but finding one in Scotland is nonexistent. He does find a baddie at ring side, and he says in America she is a 4/10, but here she is a ten. So he’ll take a picture with her, but first he has one question.

HOW YOU KNOW? It’s Andrade himself! He appears behind MJF and attacks him. MJF escapes up the ramp like the true coward that he is, and Andrade holds the ring.

Chris Jericho is in the back. He knows everyone should want to be the World Champion, whether they are a man or a woman. And he was the first Champion, but he wants to be again. So, not only is he in the Casino Gauntlet match, but he talked to Tony Khan, and on Collision, he will team with Speedball Mike Bailey and Komander to face Nick Wayne, Tomasso Ciampa, and Mark Davis.

It’s time to determine who will face Jon Moxley on Sunday!

Continental Challenge Cup Semifinals match: Kyle O’Reilly vs. Nigel McGuiness

I know Nigel is injured, but I still feel like this will be a technical piece of art.

Nigel looks for an ankle pick early, but Kyle reverses and he helps Nigel to his feet. Nigel responds by taking Kyle down to the mat, he stands on his foot and then walks away. Kyle is like WTF lol. O’Reilly with arm control, but Nigel rolls his way through. Nigel with a snapmare, and he feeds Kyle to Aubrey, who he tries to put in a triangle lol. It’s no more mister nice KOR, as he locks in a front face lock, hits an uppercut and then a jumping knee strike. Nigel rolls towards the apron and to the floor, where O’Reilly lines him up with a running knee strike from the apron! That takes us to the break.

O’Reilly has an ankle-based submission on Nigel as we return. Nigel with a chop and he manages to counter with an ankle lock of his own. Nigel with a snap suplex, arm control, and a stomp to the bicep. London Dungeon attempt, but Kyle kicks Nigel to the ropes. Nigel looking for the recoil, but Kyle intercepts him with a knee strike. O’Reilly with the pin for a two. Kyle with the crossarm breaker which he turns into the ankle lock. Nigel quickly gets the ropes, so Kyle stomps on the bad leg of Nigel.

Kyle approaches, but Nigel drops O’Reilly on the apron. Tower of London attempt, but Kyle escapes into a sleeper. Kyle with the chop block and a grounded sleeper. Nigel sits back into the pin for a two. Counters galore! Both men to their feet, strikes from both. Recoil from O’Reilly and he does a drop step behind Nigel. McGuinness rolls him up for a two, so Kyle grounds him with a bow and arrow. Nigel flattens out and applies the cross face. O’Reilly counters into a grounded ankle lock, with Nigel fighting until he can get to the rope.

Strikes from both men, and this time, Nigel is able to recoil from the ropes, and he smashes Kyle with a big lariat! The cover, but O’Reilly is out at two. Nigel locks on the London Dungeon, and O’Reilly taps out!
    WINNER: Nigel, SIR-TAN-LEE!
    TIME: 11:55
THOUGHTS: Nothing exciting about this one. We didn’t get any high-flying moves or weapon shots, just two really good technical wrestlers doing really good technical stuff. I pondered this in the first line, and it looks like it came to be.
    RATING: ***3/4

We will see the 6-woman tag team match, coming up next!

    BREAK IN PROGRESS!

Once more, Renee has Don Callis in the back, this time with a stoic Kyle Fletcher. Callis says that sometimes, alphas will sometimes get in each other’s faces, but the bottom line is that when it comes to the International Title, it will be staying within the Family. Renee asks Kyle for a comment, and he says that he agreed to run the plan because what he said last week about Don Callis was the truth. But Fletcher wants to know if Okada will go along with the plan. Okada, in a swanky suit, pops up and he says he is here to keep the title in the Family, and he has Kyle’s back. Fletcher questions this, since he was jumped last week by Takeshita and, surprise surprise, you were nowhere to be found. Okada says he is dedicated to the Family and leaves.

Women’s World Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion and CMLL Women’s Champion Persephone vs. The Brawling Birds and TBS Champion Maya World

Bayne and World to start. Maya isn’t winning a lock-up battle with Megan, so Maya does a drop step. It doesn’t matter, though, because Bayne takes her down with a shoulder tackle. Maya off the ropes, and she jumps into the arms of Bayne, who drops her to the mat with a scoop slam. Tag to Kross, who proceeds to stomp Maya out in the corner. Quick tag to Persephone, who rolls Maya to the middle of the ring and hits her own shoulder tackle.

She allows Maya the chance to take in WINDSAH, and here comes Hayter to double team Persephone. The Birds knock the Champions off the apron, Windsor and Maya hit a Poetry in Motion, and the Birds hold Persephone in place for a moonsault from Maya. Hayter, being the legal woman, gets the pin for a two as we hit the break.

The heels have isolated Hayter as we return. Kross shoulders Hayter in the corner and then knocks Maya and Alex off the apron. Double team offense from Divine Dominion, but Alex is back to break up the pin. Excalibur mentions that Stephon has lost control of the match, which is no real surprise. Both challengers and Champions on Sunday beat the PISS out of each other, and it ends with stereo SPEARS! Maya and Persephone get the tag, and Maya with two flying clotheslines and a Tiaras! Persephone ends off Maya, but she rebounds with a leg drop from the second rope for a two.

We have officially entered the “everyone get your shit in” part of the match, ending with Bayne clobbering Hayter with a flying lariat. Divine Retribution attempt to Maya, but the Birds are back to break it up. Persephone with a clotheslines Maya and she tells her she doesn’t deserve to be TBS Champion. Maya responds not with words but with a springboard STUNNER! The cover, but the Champions pull Maya out of the ring. Hayter flies into the arms of Divine Dominion, so Hayter with a CANNONBALL to the pile. All four ladies fight up the ramp, Persephone hits Maya in the head with the TBS Title and then hits the Frog Splash for the win!
    WINNERS: Persephone Dominion!
    TIME: 10:20
THOUGHTS: A fun match. You expected the Birds and Dominion to beat the PISS out of each other, but lining up Persephone as a serious threat for the TBS is a great move as well.
    RATING: ***1/2

We get a video package from the TNT Title match this Sunday between The Jet and Darby.

    BREAK IN PROGRESS!

It’s time for the MAIN EVENT of the evening! Wait, at 9:42PM? What gives? We went to 10:45 last week lol.

Swerve Strickland w/Prine Nana vs. Jungle Jack Perry

The bell rings, as Swerve mocks the fans waving their arms to Tarzan Boy. Strickland implores Perry to hit him, but Perry goes for a headlock instead. Swerve sends him off and shoulders him to the mat. Strickland stands over him and talks some mad smack, so Perry pokes him in the eye lol. Perry does get the shoulder tackle, and he does a double bicep pose. Perry with a Rana, but Strickland rolls through and hits a clothesline as he tries to get his vision back.

Strickland smacks Perry around for a bit. They go to the corner, where Perry sends Strickland to the apron. Swerve with forearms, but Perry over the top looking for a sunset bomb from the apron. Swerve stomps on the head of Perry, but Jack is back on the apron. Perry looking Rana, but Strickland catches him and slings him into the ring post. Perry then goes THUD off the ring steps as we hit what should be the final break of the evening.

Swerve with a snapmare into a flying elbow to the back as we return. Strickland dances around as Nana says WHOSE HOUSE. It’s almost like he’s NOT a heel or something lol. Gory Special submission style from Strickland! Perry frees himself with an arm drag that sends Strickland to the floor. Baseball slide is caught by Strickland, but Perry counters with a Sliced Bread #2 on the floor! Perry to the ring as Strickland stumbles up the aisle. Tope Suicida! A second one! A third one! Orihara Moonsault from Perry!

Perry returns Strickland to the ring and goes up, but Strickland catches up to him. Perry shoves Strickland to the mat and it looks like he was supposed hit a standing moonsault to Swerve, but he ended up behind Strickland, so he hit a DDT instead. Perry looking knee strike, but Strickland intercepts him with the House Call! Swerve to the top, Swerve Stomp, NO, Snare Trap from Perry. Strickland frees himself from the hold by grabbing the hand of Perry. Jack rolls over Strickland for a two. Both men to their feet, Strickland pops up Perry, but Perry counters with a Rana for a two. Jack runs in for a Casadora, but Strickland catches him with a sit-down driver. Strickland picks Perry back up and he hits Big Pressure for the win!
    WINNER: Swerve when he drives!
    TIME: 12:00
THOUGHTS: A great main event, but we shouldn’t be surprised. Perry showed out for all of his worth, but Strickland was just that much better.
    RATING: ****

Post-match, Strickland offers a fist bump to Perry, who accepts.

Video package for All-In London’s main event between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay for the World Title. It was, in a word, epic! Also, I swear I heard this song before, but I cannot place who it is from.

And with that, we are done! No overrun, no thing!
