Image via AEW
Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey had a successful run in AEW as JetSpeed before they broke apart, and Knight credits Bailey as a big influence on him. The two got off to a strong start as a team and ultimately had two runs with the AEW World Trios Championships before Knight turned heel, joined the Con Fallis Family and laid out Bailey on the May 27th episode of AEW Dynamite.
Knight was interviewed by Paige B. for The Tap Out Tea and talked about his history with Bailey, as well as his turn on Bailey and why it had to happen. You can see the highlights below:
On His History With Bailey:
“You know, we got to make business decisions. And Speedball, we go way back, even before AEW. He was such a influence on my career because he’s been wrestling twice, three times longer than I have. So, he’s shown me the ropes.
“And you know, just being in the ring with somebody like a Speedball puts you in the best position against top talent. With him, immediately I got to wrestle with the Young Bucks, got to team with Kenny Omega. Immediately got to wrestle Will Osprey, all the top guys in AEW — FTR. And we got to share those experiences, and we grew a lot.”
On Turning On Bailey:
“But when I felt like I was ready to go on my own, I had to cut the cord, had to cut the dead weight. Ever since then, Jet been flying high, man.”
