Kyle Fletcher is the new AEW International Champion, defeating Konosuke Takeshita for the championship on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Fletcher battled Takeshita on Wednesday night’s Beach Break episode with the goal of bringing the championship back to the Don Callis Family, ultimately proving victorious in a little under 17 minutes.

Callis made his presence known late in the match, as he distracted his former protégé so that Fletcher could take control of the match. Takeshita hit a Raging Fire for a nearfall soon after, but Fletcher regained control and got the win after a top rope Brainbuster. You can see clips from the AEW Dynamite match below.

After the bout, Mick Foley came out to interview Fletcher, who said Takeshita was never his friend and he was always better than his former tag team partner. Callis then accused Foley of stealing the spotlight of the “young, real talent.”

The win gives Fletcher his first run with the AEW International Champion and ends Konosuke Takeshita’s second reign at 46 days. Takeshita defeated the Don Callis Family’s Kazuchika Okada at AEW Double or Nothing on May 24th to capture the title.
